A day in Chauvigny

Here is an example of an ideal day in Chauvigny, to be adapted according to your tastes!

/ Make the most of the morning to attend one of Chauvigny’s two renowned shows, the birds of prey of the Giants of the Sky or a ride on the Vélo-rail (if it’s hot, you’ll be glad you chose this time slot!). If you opt for the Vélo-rail, park directly on the spot. If you choose the raptors, you can park in the medieval town (free parking) or park in the lower town and come on foot (7 minutes, it’s uphill!) or take the shuttle bus that runs in the summer.

/ Visit of Harcourt castle on the way up to the medieval city.

/ Lunch break in one of the numerous restaurants in Chauvigny

/ Climb to the top of the keep (“Donjon de Gouzon”) to admire the view.

/ Visit the collegiate church of Saint-Pierre, a jewel of Romanesque art.

/ Show at the Grange aux Loups (see programme here) or Géants du Ciel or Vélo-rail for those who missed the morning session.

/ A good home-made ice-cream, a waffle or a home-made pancake for a little rest.

/ Take a look at “Le Clou“, (local cultural association), behind the doors of a superb 17th century residence

/ Shopping at the various local craftsmen and stroll in the medieval streets

/ Home sweet home, tired but with lots of nice memories
